A Mission in Space
When the space shuttle Endeavour, scheduled for its first launch in the new millennium, took off at 12:44 p.m. on February the 10th, 2000 from launch pat 39A of the Kennedy Space Center for the (SRTM) Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission, a watch manufactured by the Towson Watch Company was on board. The chronograph, with a 25 jewel, high grade self winding movement adjusted to five positions, was specially decorated. The rotor, hand engraved, shows the 24 ct. gold plated initials of the owner. On the back are all the crew member's names. The watch was the answer to the challenge of precision timekeeping combined with the realization of a personal dream. A second Chronograph worn during the same Mission was donated to the NAWCC Watch and Clock Museum in Pennsylvania and is on display there.
