The 14 ct. gold case is 22 mm in diameter with a center plate bearing movement and bezel. Two small hooks secure the center plate with the half spherical bottom- and top section. Both pieces, the top part and center plate can be lifted when unhooked. Lifting the center plate enables access to the movement. The movement, so called rim wind movement, was made in Switzerland in the period 1860-1870. At that time, they were the second smallest movements made on a commercial basis. The movements were so small, only the highest skilled craftsmans were able to make them. A few survived! In 2005 a movement ,with a cylinder escapement, was completely rebuilt by the Towson Watch Co.
